Objective

To be the first player to declare your 13 cards. The first player who declares the 13 cards is the correct set and sequence wins the game.

This game will be played between a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 players.

For Winning the Game

Declare with full confidence if you have: at least!

  • One Pure Sequence|PS (3 cards +)
  • One Pure/Impure Sequence | PIS (3 cards +)

So the possible valid declarations can be

  1. 7 Pure Sequence (Run) + 6 Pure/Impure Sequence
  2. 8 (PS) + 5 (PIS) , 4 (PS) + 9 (PIS), 3(PS) + 10(PIS)
  3. If you have lot of jokers you can declare them separately and then make the arrangement
  4. 3 (PS) + 3(PIS) + 4(Set) + 3(Set)
  5. 3 (PS) + 3(PIS) + 4(Set) + 3 Jokers
  6. 3(PS) + 3(PIS) + 7 Jokers
  7. Impure Sequence can have 2 Jokers

For Saving Points during a game, you are losing

If you are not able to declare how to arrange cards and make a valid declaration, your next strategy has to minimize your losses. In the Rummy Points game, the maximum points a player can lose is 80 points, also known as Full Hand.

You wouldn’t want to make that kind of loss. So, if you at least make 1 pure sequence (3 cards +) then the face value of the rest of the cards is added to calculate your point loss.

Say your 4 Cards are (1234 of hearts | a valid pure sequence) and then rest of 9 cards are (2| 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | J | Q |K | A)

9 un-arranged cards will add up to = 2+4+6+8+10+10X3 + 1 = 41 Points loss

Number Cards have points = number | Face Cards have 10 points | Joker has 0 points

  • MD = 30 Point

If you make a middle drop you lose 30 points

  • ID = 10 Points

If you make an initial drop you lose 10 points

So, if you don’t see a pure sequence in the first 1-2 turns, a good strategy might be to make a Middle Drop and reduce losses.

When is Set?

A set is a group of three or more cards of the same value but of different suits. When you are forming sets, you can use wild cards and jokers. Examples of sets. A♥ A♣ A♦ (In this set, all the Ace are of different suits, making a valid set.) 8♦ 8♣ 8♠ 8♥ (Rummy set is formed with four 8 cards of different suits.)

What is Sequence?

In rummy, a sequence is a group of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. There are two types of sequences that are formed; a pure sequence and an impure sequence. To win the game of rummy you need at least one pure sequence in your rummy hand. Impure sequence is just a pure sequence with one or more Joker or wild card
